What is Rafale power and controversy attached to it.
The unusual power of RAFALE!
"Rafale" is one of the strongest support for the Indian Air Force. Rafale is an amazing aircraft fitted with a very superior weapon package.
Finally, the Indian Air Force's most awaited rafale arrival date is fixed. Indian Rafale fighters will be arriving on July 27th. At least 6 rafales will be landing at Indian Military Bases. i.e:
1. "Haryana"
2. "West Bengal"
Rafale with Meteor & Scalp missiles will give India unrivaled combat capability and surely these are the game-changer weapons of IAF. The scalp will have a range of 500km and Meteor will have a 150 km range. METEOR is known to be the best beyond visual range missile in the world. While SCALP is a deep strike weapon, and the Rafale with these two missiles will help India achieve unmatched air dominance in the region. These combat air jets are the most powerful and help in competing with the enemy nations such as China and Pakistan.
Surely Rafale's are the glory for INDIA'S strength & this power would reflect the India's pride throughout the world.
Why & How the Controversies of RAFALE arose?
India needs around 800 combat aircraft to fight against China & Pakisthan even in the worst war situations.
In 1980 India had sufficient no of combat aircraft but when coming to 2001 they became 700 due to lack of its usability. So IAF head requested the BJP government in 2001 about their combat aircraft requirements. By the time when IAF submitted their requirement report after 4 years of research, the Congress government came into action.
So, the congress government studied the entire report submitted by the IAF and finally agreed with the "Dassault Aviation"(who bid the least amount for the manufacturing) with some conditions like, 18 aircraft to be imported from France and the remaining 108 aircraft to be manufactured in India itself by the HAL(Hindustan Aeronautical Limited).
This is known as ‘Technology Transfer’ (In which the company shares the information on how the fighter jets could be manufactured in India.)
Using this technology, HAL would have manufactured the remaining 108 fighter jets.
Here technology transfer was an important aspect of the deal. Because, if in the future the relations between India and France take a bad turn or if Dassault Aviation could not manufacture aircraft, even then we could have made the aircraft ourselves in India, which would have been similar to the Rafale aircraft.
The company Dassault named the fighter jet they were going to manufacture as "RAFALE". So, the deal itself also got the name as the "RAFALE deal".
This deal was proposed in 2012 but not completely agreed. Because both were not compromising on some of their conditions. So the deal continued and not finalized even in 2014.
But in 2014, again BJP came into action and made a new agreement with the same Dassault company in 2015 after reviewing the past agreement made by the Congress government.
Here the new agreement was made with 60,000 crores, which is called "OFFSET CLAUSE". In which the company has to invest 50% of the given budget in Indian manufacturing industries. So that Indians will get employment.
According to the deal, 36 aircraft will be imported to India until 2022. Here, from the starting day of the initiation of the deal controversies arose, that BJP agreed to manufacture 36 aircraft from 60,000 crores but during Congress's government, it made a deal of 126 aircraft within the same 60,000 crores. This is the circumstance that began to arose controversy.
But BJP authority claimed that they made those aircraft with advanced technology, warranty, and 13 special features according to the requirement of the IAF.
Even though congress authority not contending it and wanted to make their budget transparent.
But they disagreed with them as the companies involved in this deal will lose their pricing strategy. Which made the controversy to become even more powerful.
Thus how controversies of Rafale arose and finally came to an end.
